But today, any family that is descended from the early arrivals to Australia in the late 1700's and early 1800's actively seek out their convict past. I know I have, he was sentenced to transportation to Australia in 1810.
From researching how my paternal grandfather was orphaned not long after his arrival in Australia in 1895 to how my maternal ancestors established a successful and enduring grazing business in south west NSW, I set upon designing a photo book for my mother of all her old photos and that of my father and grand parents with the history of our ancestors and their journey's to Australia.
Your family's history is important and I never think its too early or too late to do something about it. With our world becoming so technologically advanced, our focus has become the here and now. So many people share their lives on Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and other social networking sites but it is not saved for posterity.
